Cuba keeps medicine and medical supplies exempt from duty, and that exemption has been extended indefinitely. But the exemption has different limits depending on how the parcel travels:
Per shipment: 200 USD or 20 kg
If you send the parcel by air, sea or post, the duty-free cap is 200 dollars or 20 kilograms. This is the most common case and the one most people do not know about.
Unaccompanied baggage: 500 USD or 50 kg
If the parcel travels as unaccompanied baggage, the limit rises to 500 dollars or 50 kilograms. If someone you trust travels and carries it with them, there is no value limit on the medicine.
In packages separate from everything else
Medicine and medical supplies must be presented to customs in packages separate from everything else. Mixing them with clothes or food in the same box makes clearance harder.

Can I put the medicine in the same box as clothes or food?
It is not a good idea. Medicine and medical supplies must be presented to customs in packages separate from all other items. If they are mixed in, clearance gets complicated and you can lose the exemption.
Is a prescription needed to send medicine to Cuba?
For everyday medicines, no. Some controlled products may require a medical certificate and clinical records. If your relative needs a specific treatment, message us and we will advise you on what works and what might cause trouble.
